Jayson Tatum Jaylen Brown Combine For 7 Points In First Half As Dallas Takes Control

Celtics Suffer Historic Loss in Game 4, Mavericks Avoid Elimination

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown Combine for 7 Points in First Half as Dallas Takes Control

38-Point Final Margin Marks Third-Largest Blowout in NBA Finals History

The Boston Celtics' 10-game winning streak came to a crashing halt in Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals, as the Dallas Mavericks annihilated them 122-84, staving off elimination in the process.

The Celtics, who had won seven straight road games entering Game 4, found themselves trailing 61-35 at halftime. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who have been Boston's leading scorers throughout the playoffs, combined for just seven points in the first half.

Meanwhile, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving carried the Mavericks, scoring 26 and 24 points respectively in the first half. The duo accounted for all but eight of Dallas' points in the opening half.

The 38-point final margin was the third-largest ever in an NBA Finals game, behind only Chicago's 96-54 victory over Utah in 1998 and the Celtics' 131-92 win over the Lakers in 2008.

With the win, the Mavericks force a Game 5 on Sunday night in Boston. However, the Celtics remain in a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.
