Clark Was a Two-Time Consensus National Player of the Year at Iowa

New York, NY - Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever on Thursday night. Clark, a two-time consensus national player of the year, has rewritten the college basketball record books during her time at Iowa.

The 22-year-old Clark decided to forgo her fifth year of college eligibility and enter the draft, where she was widely projected to go No. 1 overall. She is the first player from Iowa to be drafted No. 1 overall in the WNBA Draft.

"I'm so excited to be joining the Indiana Fever and the WNBA," Clark said in a statement. "I've always dreamed of playing in the WNBA, and I can't wait to get started with my new team." Clark is a dynamic guard known for her scoring ability, averaging over 20 points per game in each of her four seasons at Iowa. She also set the NCAA record for career assists and is one of the most decorated players in college basketball history.

The Indiana Fever are coming off a 12-20 season in 2023 and are looking to Clark to lead them to a playoff berth in 2024. Clark is expected to make an immediate impact on the Fever, and she has the potential to be one of the best players in the WNBA.
