Toyota 47 Timing Belt Replacement Tips

Quick Reference Table for Timing Belt or Chain/Gear

Before starting the timing belt replacement, it's crucial to determine whether your vehicle has a timing belt, chain, or gear. Use this table as a quick reference:

| Vehicle Type | Timing System | |---|---| | 4A Series | Belt | | 5A Series | Belt | | 7A Series | Belt | | 1NZ Series | Chain | | 2NZ Series | Chain | | 3NZ Series | Chain |

Verifying TDC and Tensioner Adjustments

Step 1: Verify Top Dead Center (TDC)

Ensure the pistons are at the top of their respective cylinders before replacing the belt. This is known as Top Dead Center (TDC).

Step 2: Release Tensioner Pin

Locate the tensioner pin and pull it out to release the tension on the timing belt.

Step 3: Rotate Crankshaft 720 Degrees

Turn the crankshaft 720 degrees (two full rotations). Ensure that all the timing marks on the pulleys align correctly after the rotation.

Note for Rotation Test

Remember: The marks on the timing belt will not align perfectly after the rotation. Instead, check for alignment of the timing marks on the pulleys.
